Salvatore (“Torey”) Riso
President and Chief Executive Officer
Salvatore Riso, or Torey, has served as president and CEO of Care since 2009, leading the company’s exit from the impact of the Great Recession and positioning it onto a trajectory for growth and profitability. As CEO, Torey is responsible for setting Care’s long-term strategy, scouting and vetting potential new operating partners, managing relationships with parent company Tiptree and other investors, and serving as the company’s chief public spokesperson.
Prior to becoming CEO of Care, Torey was a senior executive with the CIT Group, a publicly traded finance group serving the middle market. He played a leadership role on the transaction team for Care Investment Trust’s $225 million initial public offering in June 2007, and served CIT in a number of capacities over the years, including as senior vice president and chief counsel of CIT Corporate Finance, CIT Healthcare, and CIT Commercial Real Estate. In connection with his work supporting the CIT Healthcare Investment Committee, Torey gained significant specialized expertise in healthcare-related transactions, including:
A lawyer by profession, Torey began his career in private legal practice in infrastructure corporate, and finance law. He has served on the executive board of the American Senior Housing Association since 2011 and is a repeat member of the planning committee responsible for organizing the National Investment Center for Seniors Housing & Care annual Spring Investors’ Forum.
Torey received his undergraduate degree with honors in economics and history from the University of California at Los Angeles and his law degree from Loyola University of Los Angeles. He is a member of the New York and California Bars, and is also a New York Real Estate Broker.
Michael S. Goldberg
Chief Investment Officer
Michael Goldberg is Care’s lead executive responsible for sourcing, structuring, and underwriting new acquisition and joint venture opportunities. His professional experience has focused on sophisticated financial transactions and underwriting since 2003, and on the seniors housing sector specifically since 2006. Prior to joining Care in 2010, Mike was a vice president with CIT Group where he underwrote debt and equity transactions for senior housing, skilled nursing facilities, and medical office buildings. Earlier in his career, he was in the healthcare real estate and securitization group in the investment banking division of Credit Suisse where he worked on transactions ranging in size from $10 million to $4.6 billion, including the Care Investment Trust initial public offering. Mike is a member of the executive board of directors of the American Senior Housing Association and in 2013, he was selected to serve on the Future Leaders Council for the National Investment Center for Seniors Housing & Care.
Mike received a bachelor of science degree in applied economics and management from Cornell University and a master’s in real estate finance and investments from New York University’s Shack Institute of Real Estate.
Danielle M. DePalma
Vice President and General Counsel
Danielle DePalma heads the legal department at Care. She advises the Care business unit on all stages of acquisitions and ongoing legal matters for Care’s operation, including coordinating its in-house team and external counsel, and works closely with counsel for our operating partners. She has specialized in corporate finance since 2003, and joined the Care team in 2010. Danielle previously served as vice president and senior counsel for the CIT Group, providing legal support to their commercial and industrial division. Prior to joining CIT, Danielle was an associate in the banking and finance practice at Weil Gothsal & Manges. She was also an associate in the finance group at Schulte Roth & Zabel where she represented hedge funds in acquisitions and other finance transactions.
Danielle received a bachelor of arts degree in economics from New York University (honors section) and a law degree from Fordham University Law School. She is admitted to the New York State Bar.
Vice President, Asset Management
Costa Lallas joined the Care team in 2015 as Vice President for Asset Management and is responsible for tracking and evaluating the performance of Care’s portfolio, monitoring Care’s compliance with its debt obligations, as well as being the primary contact with its operating partners on matters related to portfolio performance and management. Prior to joining Care, Costa worked as an asset manager for housing and healthcare properties for Ventas, a publicly traded real estate investment trust. Costa has also worked for GE in both the healthcare financial services division and in its real estate finance division. Costa has focused on the seniors housing sector since 2006 but has worked in real estate for over 25 years, with broad experience in many real estate subdisciplines as an asset manager and loan production officer. He received a bachelor of science degree in finance and real estate and a master of science in real estate from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
Chief Accounting Officer
Patrick Huvane joined Care in 2016 as Chief Accounting Officer where he oversees the financial reporting and accounting functions. Prior to joining Care, Patrick was Chief Accounting Officer of Tiptree Financial Inc. (“Tiptree”), Care’s parent company. Tiptree is a diversified holding company that operates across multiple industry sectors with a focus on financial services such as insurance and insurance services, real estate, asset management, and specialty finance. Patrick was responsible for all accounting aspects of Tiptree including the SEC filings. Prior to joining Tiptree in 2007, he held positions of increasing responsibility at large financial institutions such as Credit Suisse and Sumitomo Bank. Patrick began his career as an auditor at Ernst & Young.
Patrick received a bachelor of science degree in accounting from Manhattan College and a master of business administration in finance from New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business. He is a Certified Public Accountant in New York and is also a CFA charterholder. Patrick has also served as an adjunct faculty member of Manhattan College’s department of economics & finance.
Jordan Wolfson joined Care’s team in 2015 as the Assistant Controller, working with its joint venture operating partners on accounting-related issues while also assisting the Chief Accounting Officer in managing Care’s accounting functions. Prior to joining Care, Jordan worked at two public accounting firms, Grant Thornton, LLP and RSM US LLP in audit and attestation. During his five years at Grant Thornton and one year at RSM, Jordan managed engagements for a wide variety of clients in the real estate, healthcare, commercial, and education sectors. This experience exposed him to a wide array of accounting guidance and topics as well as the implementation of internal controls and GAAP accounting/reporting. Jordan received his bachelor of science degree in accounting from the University of Delaware’s Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics. He is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of New York.
Clarence Radin joined the Care team in 2016. He is responsible for the underwriting and due diligence of acquisition opportunities as well as helping to manage Care’s existing portfolio. Clarence previously consulted for a number of real estate firms, focusing on acquisitions and development. Prior to consulting, he worked in the insurance industry, specializing in wealth transfer solutions and non-traditional investment structures. Clarence also serves as Adjunct Faculty for Real Estate Finance at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation. Clarence received a bachelor of arts in English from Georgetown University and a master of science in Real Estate Development from Columbia University.
Jem Wong joined Care’s team in 2017 as a Senior Accountant, assisting the Chief Accounting Officer and Assistant Controller in managing Care’s accounting functions. Prior to joining Care, Jem worked in the audit practices of BDO USA, LLP and PwC, LLP. During the her two years at BDO and one year at PwC, Jem focused on real estate, healthcare, and the alternative investments sectors. Jem received her bachelors of science degree in accounting and psychology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Based in Clearwater, FL, Traditions Senior Management, or "Traditions," employs 50 people including executive level management, clinical oversight – both corporate and regional, finance, accounting, reimbursement, human resources and risk management.
